The QiGong Research Society (QRS) is dedicated to preserving the ancient, natural healing tradition of QiGong by supporting clinical research and raising public awareness of the benefits of QiGong through education and training. QRS was founded in 1992, and is directed by Master FaXiang Hou.

“In Sept, ’08, I was diagnosed with Stage 4B tonsilar cancer. Treatment began at a major cancer center at the end of October. I underwent 33 radiation treatments and 6 days of chemo. My cancer was cured and I will always be thankful for that but the aftereffects of treatment left me completely debilitated. I was a shell of my former self. I had lost 50 pounds, and I had no strength, no ability to relate, no interest in relating or participating in life in anyway. I knew it would take time. However, my recovery was compromised by 4 aspiration pneumonias, three of which almost killed me.
My wife decided it was time for me to see Master Hou. I began seeing Master Hou twice weekly in June, ’09. I will admit that I was doubtful of this “alternative” approach to Western medicine but I’m no longer doubtful. I feel vigorous, alert, more interested in life and much, much stronger. I have made it 5 months now with no reoccurrence of aspiration pneumonia.
In addition, the range of motion in my neck and upper body was seriously compromised by the radiation. I suffered neck spasms so severe that my head was almost immobile. Master Hou has helped this significantly.
I have not eaten by mouth for more than a year due to the scar tissue caused by the radiation. With Master Hou’s help, I’m optimistic that I will regain at least partial functioning of these muscles.
Master Hou is a passionate and dedicated healer who also happens to have a great sense of humor. It is a pleasure working with him.”

The basic theories, concepts, and first foundation exercises of Master Hou’s unique form of traditional Chinese QiGong will be taught during this class series. Students of all ages and physical conditions can expect to experience a strong visceral feeling of Qi, and easily perform slow moving exercises, along with controlled breathing and mindful concentration that will circulate, balance, and build Qi throughout the body, thereby contributing to internal strength and wholeness of body and mind. Topics such as the concept of Qi (Vital Energy), the meridian system, the history of QiGong, and its current applications will be covered. There will be ample time for questions, and students can expect to practice these fundamental exercises on their own with quickly felt benefits.
I originally heard of Master Hou from a number of women who told me remarkable accounts of how he had helped them with problems ranging from menopause to cancer.
My own situation, at the age of 52, was a fairly swift onset of arthritis, made that much more frightening because of the history of arthritis in my family.
When I first went to see Master Hou, I did not know quite what to expect, but I had tried medications and acupuncture, and nothing had helped. I liked neither the idea of taking any kind of pain reliever for the rest of my life nor the suggested surgery that seemed so invasive and with a doubtful rate of success.
Master Hou understood my problems with great compassion and understanding. For the first time since I realized that arthritis was taking its grip on my body, I felt hope.
After three months of weekly treatment, I can honestly say that the crippling pain that was both keeping me awake at night, and frightening me – was diminished by at least 75%. I could hardly believe it. I had not taken a pain reliever in weeks.
At this stage in my life, I am on “maintenance”, and finally feel that there is light at the end of the arthritic tunnel. Any level of arthritic discomfort is minimal in comparison with my original situation
The added gift of Master Hou’s Qigong healing is the tremendous feeling of peace, calm and general sense of wellness.
I regard my association with Master Hou as the recipient of his healing to be a great gift in my life.
